Kelli Pearson and Kristin Russell opened The Sentient Bean in 2001 at the south end of Forsyth Park, and the cafe's motto is brewing coffee and community since then. All of the coffee is organic and fair trade, the kitchen buys from local farmers, and the shop composts, recycles glass and is an EPA Green Power Partner. At night it turns into a small stage for live music, drag and burlesque shows, film nights, and an open mic on the first and third Tuesday run with Savannah Pride Center.
Family Friendly Savannah: Victorian District
The blocks around the south end of Forsyth Park. A veterans' post here has a bar anyone can drink in, with a diner inside the same building and a natural foods market next door.

Treylor Park Pizza Party
Pizza Party is the pizza room of the Savannah-born Treylor Park group, which also runs Treylor Park on Bay Street, Hitch on Drayton, Double Wide Diner and Beach Party on Tybee. Savannah Magazine recommends it for families because of the retro pinball machines in a small room set off from the dining area. It does not take reservations.
